the DOOR is OPEN is an initiative of the United Methodist Church that engages the community in conversation as our neighborhoods become more diverse. By 2040 there will be no ethnic group that holds the majority, and the sum of all minorities will make up more than fifty percent of the population in the USA. This initiative believes that diversity is not only ethnic, but cultural; meaning that even within ethnic groups there are cultures and subcultures
Therefore, the DOOR is OPEN is a portal for all of us to engage in intercultural development that will allow us to communicate better and understand each other on a deeper and more personal level. Collaborators will post resources, videos and offer classes to all who want to further their intercultural skills. The United Methodist Church acknowledges the need for a society where our differences enrich us and do not divide us.
